HB 980: Remove Barriers to Employment from Court Debt

This bill eliminates the government’s authority to suspend driver’s licenses for nonpayment or for failure to appear in court and would allow suspended licenses to be reinstated without any action taken by the license holder, waiving associated fees and providing people with a notice of reinstatement. The bill also includes a text reminder system for court appearances.
