SB 724: Criminalize Homelessness Act

This bill creates a Class 3 misdemeanor (which carries a maximum sentence of up to 20 days in jail) for "public camping" in certain areas, which is defined as occupying public property for the purpose of sleeping or shelter, such as by erecting a tent or storing personal property. The bill also prohibits local governments from allowing public camping outside of specified areas or from dissuading law enforcement officers or district attorneys from enforcing the law.
