Liz Barber started with the ACLU of North Carolina in 2019 as our Reproductive Freedom Fellow. In this role, she works to improve abortion access for minors in North Carolina. Her most recent work has focused on the creation of Text Abby, a text line to help youth navigate the judicial waiver process, allowing them to get an abortion without parental consent.
Prior to joining the ACLU, she was a partner at Barber & Barber, PLLC, a general practice law firm, where she focused on criminal defense. Liz was the president of Judicial District 15b Bar and the Chatham County Bar Association. She attended UNC-Chapel Hill for law School and attended the University of Virginia for undergraduate studies.
Liz served in the Peace Corps in Costa Rica and enjoys running in her free time.
