In May 2024, Artie joined ACLU of North Carolina with nearly 20 years of community organizing experience. Most recently, they served as the Director of Strategic Initiatives at Equality North Carolina, where they led aspects of election strategy, advocacy, organizing, and interdepartmental program management. Prior to that, they served as the Regional Managing Organizer for the Western Piedmont at Democracy North Carolina. Artie received their undergraduate and graduate degrees in social work at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where they focused on LGBTQ+ youth and family, trans health disparities, policy advocacy, and community building.
