Early Voting in North Carolina starts on Thursday, 10/17, and ends on Saturday, 11/02. Regular voting day is on Tuesday, 11/05. In preparation for these upcoming election dates, the ACLU of NC is holding multiple events for volunteers to participate in Get Out the Vote for one final push for voter registration and voter turnout. Together, we can continue to educate and prepare people for the election and ensure that everyone has the necessary information to cast their ballot and vote their rights.

We need volunteers like you to make the most impact as we approach Early Voting! Whether you register for one or more of these events, any time and effort you can volunteer makes a difference. If you have any questions or concerns about these events or volunteering, please reach out to Artie Hartsell, Director of Organizing, at [email protected]

What is Canvassing?

A.What is Canvassing?

A.

Canvassing is something that advocacy organizations do close to election time in order to educate people around the upcoming election, as well as to answer any questions and provide necessary information. It is an in-person method that involves going door-to-door to speak with residents about voting. It is a key way in which organizations encourage people to vote in the election, whether that's early voting or voting on November 5th.

What is Phone and Text Banking?

A.What is Phone and Text Banking?

A.

Phone banking is a method of canvassing in which volunteers call people on the phone to discuss the upcoming election and voting. Text banking serves the same purpose but is done over text, rather than on the phone. These are both virtual alternatives to in-person canvassing and are done through online programs that protect the volunteer's personal phone number.
